Petron Blaze import Renaldo Balkman attack teammates Arwind Santos and Ronald Tubid at the PBA. Balkman made history in the Philippines for attacking a fellow teammate, when the usual is to attack an adversary. Basketball fans in the audience at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last night were surprised of the seeming melt down of Balkman. The Petron Blaze import and former New York Knicks player Balkman first confronted the referee eventhough the final score is 73-83 in favor of Alaska Aces. His teammate Ronald Tubid intervened and was pushed by Balkman. When teammate Arwind Santos saw this he also tried to pacify Balkman but Balkman attacked Arwind Santos by shoving and choking him.
Renaldo Balkman later on took to Twitter to apologize: (Note: @Arwind029 is not even active on Twitter, Arwind was last seen posting a tweet in January 2012. So does @tubidronald71 whose last post was in May ).
“I wld like to apologize to the fans, Petron Blaze, my teammates, the PBA and especially @tubidronald71 and @Arwind029. I got caught up in the moment of a very intense game.I respect @Arwind029 as a person & player.I am proud to be part of @Petron fam.
“This was unintentional towards @arwindsotnas, I am a team player who always has the best interest of the team at heart.”
Despite that, the Puerto Rican-American Balkman will still be facing an inquiry by the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) headed by its Commissioner Chito Salud on Monday on whether Renaldo Balkman will be removed from Petron Blaze and be deported back to the United States.
