Nagmahal Ako ng Bakla Banned By Bishops

August 15, 2009

Nagmahal Ako ng Bakla is the novelty song of the year! An obscure rap group called Dagtang Lason uploaded their video on Youtube a year ago, which now so far has racked up more than 2.7 million views and counting. The song earned praise mostly from the gay male population for its honesty, while earning the ire of the female populace for branding them as an unfaithful lot and golddiggers. The “Nagmahal Ako ng Bakla” song, has since been released commercially and has been shortened to “Nagmahal Ako.” It is now the subject of a call by the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) to ban the song for explicit lyrics. Another novelty song entitled, “Banana,” has caught the ire of the CBCP for its double entendre (double meaning) lyrics. “Banana” is by rapper Blanktape, who hails from Zamboanga City.

You be the judge, here is the BANANA Lyrics (Clean version):

Kung ayaw mong nabibitin sa taste
I-try mo itong banana ko, babe, I’m selling today
Ito ay long, di ka magsisisi sa size
Masarap, matamis at mahaba
At panalo pa ang price

Sige i-try mo’ng aking banana
Pag natikman mo ‘to di magsasawa
Dahil masustanya’ng aking banana
At ubod pa ng sarap aking banana

Kaya i-try mo’ng aking banana
Para malaman mo kung bakit ba
Paborito ng lahat ang aking banana
Kaya ang bumibili ay pila pila

And you know, ubos lagi ang paninda ko
Di na ‘to inaabot ng night
Sa dami ng suki ko
Tingnan mo, aking saging ngayon ay in
Pinipilahan ng lahat, ganyan katindi, aking saging

If you buy
Ay may dagdag
Basta sa akin ka mag-buy
Ay may dagdag
Di mo na kailangan pang ma-shy
Yes may dagdag
Kasi suki kita ‘day
Ay may dagdag

I want you to buy baby
I want you to buy
I want you to try baby
Want you to try / Oohh want you to try

Bago ka pa mahuli / Just wish you could buy baby
Bago ka pa mahuli / Wish you could buy
At nang di ka magsisi / Kahit one time baby
At nang di ka magsisi / Oohh kahit one time

As of presstime, Blanktape’s record company, Alpha Records, has decided to pull out his album on the market and has apologized for whoever was offended by the song..
