Marian Rivera as Carmela

Marian Rivera is “Carmela” and not a copy of “Malena,” an X-rated Italian movie, as some have insinuated. Although the people behind Carmela is ignoring the issue, its press releases say that “Carmela” is an original concept and it even involves Marian Rivera herself giving her inputs into the project. Carmela is about a May-December love affair and Marian will be paired for the first time with Alden Richards, who’s being groomed as the new Kapuso Network’s and GMA Artist Center’s Prime Leading Man.

“Carmela” is directed by Dominic Zapata, and written by the feisty Suzette Doctolero who said she is having a hard time writing “Carmela.” “Sa tanang buhay ko bilang soap writer, itong Carmela ang pinakamahirap isulat. Waaah!!,” she wrote in her FB page. “Carmela” will start airing on January 27, 2014 on GMA Primetime. Also starring in the soap are: Rochelle Pangilinan, Rodjun Cruz, Agot Isidro, Roi Vinzon, Ana Feleo, Jennica Garcia, Ricky Davao, Laurice Guillen, Krystal Reyes and Eva Darren.
