Korina Sanchez has not been seen on TV Patrol for weeks now. Korina Sanchez filed a temporary leave of absence for all her news work duties on ABS-CBN but for her weekly magazine show, Rated K and Up Close and Personal on ANC. Korina Sanchez‘s leave of absence is for three months or from January to March 2015. Korina Sanchez’ leave of absence has nothing to do with several controversies she had faced while doing the news like the Supertyphoon Yolanda Anderson Cooper issue and her recent remarks about Typhoon Ruby better off hitting Japan instead of the Philippines.

Korina Sanchez’s reason for her temporary leave of absence is that she is busy with her studies. She is completing her Master of Arts in Journalism at the Ateneo de Manila University and a simultaneous course at the London School of Economics in London, England.

Korina Sanchez only interrupted her leave of absence to do the news coverage of Pope Francis’ Philippine visit on January 2015. She did so because she is a foremost and seasoned ABS-CBN correspondent on Vatican affairs.

ABS-CBN news head Ging Reyes explained Korina Sanchez’s leave of absence request:

“Yes it is a leave of absence of three months which management has granted to Korina. The company values higher education, as it is always a plus among our ranks. Many in our stable have also taken leaves of absence to pursue further studies. When they come back, there is always better output. We wish Korina the best of the experience.”

But what’s this we heard from the grapevine?! On the intriga side, Korina reportedly only had one small request on who should pinch hit for her on TV Patrol like Ces Drilon, Pinky Webb or Bernadette Sembrano.. She allegedly said anyone but Karen Davila! (Why kaya? If this is true).

Korina Sanchez celebrated Valentine’s Day recently by attending Kuh Ledesma and Music and Magic’s Valentine’s concert in Solaire.
