American Idol“>Jessica Sanchez homecoming to Chula Vista, California, USA on American Idol. It is a tradition in American Idol for the Top Three contestants for a triumphant and hopeful homecoming after going through a rigorous elimination process. American Idol“>Jessica Sanchez was welcomed by thousands of supporters of the racially diverse San Diego suburb of Chula Vista. Jessica Sanchez sat on the backseat of a convertible flanked by two of her brothers in a procession of color guards and a marching band right into Eastlake High School Football Stadium, where Jessica Sanchez studied. Jessica is currently homeschooled in 11th grade with Theater of Arts in Hollywood, CA.
Chula Vista Mayor Cheryl Cox declared May 12 as “Jessica Sanchez Day.” Jessica Sanchez said she is proud to represent Chula Vista and she missed the people in it. “I feel amazing. I’m so happy to represent Chula Vista,” she said upon making her way to the stadium’s stage. It was the people, I missed the people so much. I love you guys, thank you for all the support,” she said.
Jessica Sanchez sang four songs in Eastlake Middle School – “Try A Little Tenderness,” “Stuttering”, “I Will Always Love You” and an encore, “Proud Mary.” All songs were originally performed by Jessica in American Idol“>American Idol. After Eastlake High School, Jessica Sanchez then visited the USS Midway Museum, in San Diego city proper. There, Jessica Sanchez sang the U.S. national anthem, “The Star-spangled Banner”, “Try A Little Tenderness” and an encore of “Dance With My Father” which she sang with her US Navy father who will be deployed to Singapore soon after.
Jessica Sanchez will be back on the Idol stage for the Top 3 performance singing three choices: Contestant’s choice, Judges choice and Jimmy Iovine’s choice. Post Idol, Jessica is slated for the Idol Tour and she is also set to perform at the PBS National Memorial Day Concert in Washington, D.C. on May 27, 2012.
