Miss International 2013

Bea Rose Santiago being crowned as new Miss International

The Philippines Bea Rose Santiago wins Miss International 2013. The Miss International 2013 pageant was held today in Tokyo, Japan. Bea Rose Santiago is Bb. Pilipinas-International 2013 and she hailed from Masbate but grew up in Toronto, Canada. A Miss International format is to give a 30-second speech. The Top 5 candidates were asked to deliver a speech on the subject, “What I will do if I am crowned Miss International.” Bea Rose Santiago said:
“The whole world saw how my country suffered. “One by one, other countries helped. I would like to thank who helped my country in our darkest hours. You have opened my heart and eyes on what we can do to help each other. If I become Miss International, I would uphold international camaraderie. I will work to sustain the spirit of sympathy and spirit of hope. As long as we work together, there is hope.”

Miss International 2013 1st runner up is The Netherland’s Nathalie den Dekker, 2nd runner up is New Zealand’s Casey Radley. Rounding out the Top 5 were Colombia’s Cindy Aguilar and Hungary’s Brigitta Otvos.

Special awards were: Miss Aruba (Miss National Costume), Miss New Zealand (Miss Friendship), Miss Macau (Miss Internet) and Miss Lithuania (Miss Photogenic).

The Philippines now have five Miss International winners, in 1964, 1970 (Gemma Cruz-Araneta), 1979 (Melanie Marquez), 2005 (Lara Quigaman), and this year (2013).

The Philippines is on a winning streak this year. It has placed in all the Top 5 beauty pageants in the world. It won it’s first ever Miss World (Megan Young), first Miss Supranational (Mutya Datul), 3rd runner-up in Miss Universe 2013 (Ariella Arida), and Top 8 (Angelee Delos Reyes) in Miss Earth.

I just hope we also excel in world-class sports (Tennis, Golf, Olympics), infrastructures and the ECONOMY (poverty-alleviation).

On another note, not to rain on her parade, Bea Rose Santiago’s win is being associated by others with the owner of Miss International Org. serving as a judge in the Bb. Pilipinas pageant and who reportedly picked Bea Rose Santiago to win Bb. Pilipinas-International 2013.
