Yeng Constantino is Pinoy Dream Academy’s Grand Star Dreamer, and she deserves every bit of it.
For one, she wrote and sung “Hawak Kamay”, a no.1 song for several weeks even while inside the Academy, and is the theme song to the Judy Ann Santos - Ryan Agoncillo filmfest entry, “Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo.” She also composed the Pinoy Dream Academy theme song, and won even the Christmas composition contest. She got 697++K text votes.
Before PDA, Yeng performed with the Morning Glory band at the River Booze bar in Marikina.
“We do rock songs by Kitchie Nadal and Barbie Almalbis, reggae and hits by No Doubt. Once in a while, I sing my own compositions, but they were often ignored by the audience.” she said.
At the grand finals, she sang her own composition, “Ang Awitin,” which proved to be her winning song.
Her prizes included a Suzuki Swift, a condominium, a TV set, a TMV (Touch Music Video) unit, a one-year recording contract with the Dream label of Star Records and P1 million in cash.
