Asia’s most amazing adventure and reality show, The Amazing Race Asia, is set to race again and not just around Asia but around the world. Auditions for The Amazing Race Asia 3 is now open and will close on February 25, 2008.

The requirements to join The Amazing Race Asia are:

1.  They must be teams of two, that is, that each team is to comprise 2 people.

2.  Both must be living and/or working in Asia but excluding Australia, New Zealand, and the Middle East.

3.  All contestants are required to be aged 21 and above.

4.  All contestants must speak English, as well as possess both a valid international driving license and an international passport.

5.  Make a 3-minute video featuring the would be contestants together with an entry form that can be downloaded from here

The Amazing Race Asia is currently airing The Amazing Race Asia 2, and is now just down to four teams. The Philippines team,  Marc Nelson and Rovilson Fernandez are strong contenders for the grand prize. The other Philippine team, Henry and Terri were eliminated in Europe.

The Amazing Race Asia, the Asian version of the Emmy Award-winning The Amazing Race, has a prize of  US$100,000 for the first team to arrive on the Final leg of the race.

The Amazing Race Asia Season 2 hosted by Allan Wu has 2 Philippine teams competing for the plum prize of US$100,000. In fact, the season’s first pit stop was in Fort Santiago, Manila, Philippines. The Pit Stop greeter here is former senator, Joey Lina. I am currently watching this season as opposed to the first which i did not. The filming took place sometime in June or July 2007.

The Philippine leg is ok but it concentrated more in the City of Manila and in Pila, Laguna ( similar to The Amazing Race Season 5). The season started in Singapore with a bang by the teams having to cross two high rise buildings and back! Then it was the Manila, Philippines announcement as to the next destination. I felt proud because the teams who came from different countries were truly delighted as they read their “clue” that their next destination is here in Manila.

The two Filipino teams are model Marc Nelson and Rovilson Fernandez, dubbed as “Best Buddies”. Marc Nelson is one of the hosts of the Philippine sports-oriented show Sports Unlimited on ABS-CBN network while his teammate, Rovilson Fernandez, is one of the hosts of another sports-oriented show, Gameplan and an executive editor of Maxim magazine’s Philippine edition. The other Filipino team is Terri ( Pinay Marketer,lol, as in palengkera, shouts at her husband like there’s no tomorrow )and Henry Reed ( an African-American, Henry Reed is one of two non-Asians participating in The Amazing Race Asia 2, he is a retired United States Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer, now residing in the Philippines ), they are tagged as ” Married 13 Years.”

Henry seems to love the Philippines much since he calls the Philippines “home” and can be heard singing “The Spaghetti Song” by the Sexbomb Dancers. Terri and Henry are from Cebu and are even wearing the Philippine flag on their shirts.

And I thought that Marc Nelson is not really Filipino ? Although i find him nice naman as he says po and opo to old folks and can be heard saying Maraming Salamat po too. I can’t say the same for Rovilson Fernandez who unquestionably is Filipino, however he acts or say otherwise, i don’t know but he rubs me the wrong way, he’s just too brash.

BTW, contestant Brett is hot, too bad he and partner was eliminated. The Amzing Race Asia 2 is shown exclusively in AXN. Oh and there are great prizes to be won if you avidly watch the show.
