American Idol season five winner Taylor Hicks is going to Broadway. Taylor Hicks will be in the Broadway production of Grease. American Idol Season three winner, Fantasia, recently starred in The Color Purple. Season two runner up Clay Aiken is currently starring in Spamalot, season three’s Diana Digarmo was in Hairspray, and season four’s Constantine Maroulis was in The Wedding Singer, all Broadway stage plays.

I guess that is the route if you don’t sell records as expected of an American Idol winner or finalist. Taylor Hicks a recent Manila visitor, is hard at work on a new album. Taylor’s first album, Taylor Hicks, after winning American Idol has sold around 700,000 copies and was certified platinum. While those are decent numbers for a debut album, they were not the million plus sales expected for an American Idol winner. Not long after the release, Hicks and his label J Records parted ways.

Starting June 6th, Taylor Hicks will appear as the Teen Angel in the Broadway production of Grease. The role was made famous by Frankie Valli in the 1978 film adaptation starring John Travolta.

Reports say that Jay-R is to transfer to ABS-CBN when his contract with GMA expires this June. It can be remembered that Jay-R has long since made his intention to transfer but was prevented by the terms of his contract. The Kapamilya Network has already made plans for Jay-R to have a show in Studio 23 and to become a MYX VJ.
