Breaking News! The Eraserheads Reunion Concert after so much controversy pushed through tonight at the Bonifacio Global City Open Field, but reportedly, the Eraserheads Reunion Concert was cut short because lead vocalist Ely Buendia was rushed to the hospital. Witness accounts said Ely Buendia collapsed backstage after singing “Fruitcake Light Years,” the last song before the 20-minute intermission. He sat onstage after singing Fruitcake Light Years. The audience thought he was acting at first. Reportedly, Ely Buendia suffered chest pains and a “heart attack” but is now in stable condition. It can be remembered that Ely Buendia suffered a heart attack before while performing in a suburban concert with his new band, Pupil, and underwent an angioplasty operation. Two days ago, Ely Buendia’s mom  passed away of complications from surgery. GMA News recounted the events that led to the cutting short of the Eraserheads Reunion Concert:

“We regret to inform you that we have to cut the concert short. My brother had to be rushed to hospital because of emotional and physical stress he is experiencing,” said Buendia’s sister Lali to concert-goers.

The Erasherheads opened the concert at 8:15 p.m. with their hit song “Alapaap” and proceeded to play classics such as “Ligaya,” “Wag Mo Nang Itanong,” “Fruitcake,” among others.

More than 10 songs were played to eager fans at The Fort and around 9:30 p.m. the band took a break. Minutes later, Buendia’s sister went up to the stage to break the sad news.

The Eraserheads concert almost was canceled after it was refused permit by the Department of Health because it was sponsored by a cigarette manufacturer. Only to be announced that it will push through tonight but not as a free concert anymore. And then this..

The band members apologized to the 20,000 strong audience for cutting short the reunion concert.
