The Sarah Geronimo talent fee and the resulting bonus is the latest hot showbiz buzz. The issue started when Yes! Magazine published its compiled list of the 50 Most Powerful in Philippine Showbiz. Sarah Geronimo only managed to rank at number 15, and here’s the exact words that the magazine said about Sarah Geronimo placing only at number 15, “a well-placed industry player puts the Viva Films contract star earnings from her latest blockbuster at a measly P200k.” The magazine also called Sarah Geronimo 2008’s Box Office Princess, to the dismay of her fans. Sarah Geronimo was officially declared Box Office Queen of 2008 last week by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation which tabulates and gives the annual awards.
Vic del Rosario, CEO of the Viva Group of Companies refutes the reports that Sarah Geronimo only received P200,000 as talent fee for “A Very Special Love” which raked in P180++ million, and P300,000 for “You Changed My Life” which raked in at least P200 million so far. Both movies starred Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz and are co-production ventures of Viva Films and Star Cinema.
“Viva bossman Vic del Rosario was quick to react to a TV report that Sarah Geronimo got only P200,000 each from her blockbuster movies A Very Special Love and P300,000 for You Changed My Life.
“Boss Vic, who is Sarah’s manager, explained that the P200,000 and P300,000 was the only approved amount by Star Cinema, which co-produced the two monster grossers with Viva Entertainment. ‘Viva took care of paying the rest of Sarah’s talent fee that Viva thought due her,’ Boss Vic said.
“For the record, Boss Vic said Sarah’s fee is the same as that of John Lloyd Cruz, her leading man in the two movies.
Sarah Geronimo reportedly received 1 million pesos, 500,000 from Star Cinema and 500,000 from Viva Films as bonus for the outstanding success of You Changed My Life.

the reason that movie was a big hit ,it’s because of sarah’s remarkable acting ,great voice , likeable , and she doesn’t need to show her skin to sell her movie .
the reason i watched that (AVSL ) out of curiosity , iam no fan but due to strong recommendations by our kababayans here in the United States ,and i agree that i also have fond.

…its unfair for sarah to be paid that low. if its not for sarah g., the movie will be nothing… wala akong maisip na magaling na artista ang pdeng gumanap sa role na laida magtalas…its unfair na bratin si sarah sa tf.. we sympathize for her dahil khit kanino ayaw mangyari ito esp kung pingtrabahuhan mong mabuti ang isang bagay. what is 200,000? or 400,000?…kumpara mo sa kinikita ng iba

sarah is exploited by her greedy manager (Mr. Vic del Rosario) and producers (viva films and star cinema). With the huge success of her films , she deserves more than a million bonus and a talent fee of more than 200, 000. many reacted with dismay and anger towards the unfair compensation given to sarah. unsolicited advice to sarah:in your next movie ask for a 5 million or more talent fee, because it is just fair and you deserve it by all means. you deserve that amount more than anybody else nowadays…wag ka ng pagulang sa kanila for your own future, i’m calling the attention of her mother for this.Look kc, even if her films are not doing well in the box office unlike you, it was alleged that she was paid 4 to 5 million.

She got 500K bonus for each movie. Mahiya naman ang mga production companies na ito. Combine gross sales of the two movies was almost 400 million and the amount they gave to sarah is only 1 million. Sa mga big stars 1 million na yung talent fee nila tapos hindi pa ganito kalaki ang sales. Don’t you think this is unfair and irresponsible way of doing business. If not for Sarah or John, the movie would not be able to make it as blockbusters, tapos, binarat pa nila si Sarah.

I agree this is exploitation at it worst, Sarah G is the reason we watch not the manager, she deserves much much more and I personally won't be satisfied until her compensation is in the multimillion for her Great Great performance. I can only hope her recording deal is much much better than her manager has gotten for her film career. I think her Manager needs to go and for her to get a manager that will look after her interest as she deserves.
