Petra Nemcova is a supermodel and often appears in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues and Victoria’s Secret fashion shows. During the 2004 tsunami, Petra Nemcova was in Thailand with her fiancé, Simon Atlee. Atlee drowned, and Němcová suffered a broken pelvis and serious internal injuries, but she managed to hold onto the top of a palm tree, reportedly for eight hours, until she was rescued. Atlee’s body was not found until over two months after the tsunami.

After her survival and recovery from the Tsunami, Petra Nemcova started The Happy Hearts Fund, a charitable campaign which aims to advocate and provide for disadvantaged youngsters who have had to endure hardship. She also moved on romantically, dating British singer James Blunt in 2006, their relationship lasted until July 2007. Petra Nemcova is now the host of Discovery Travel and Living Channel’s “A Model Life.”
