Mariel Rodriguez says Baduy ang GMA

Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition Season 2 houseguest Mariel Rodriguez, in a conversation with then housemate Megan Young, quipped that GMA 7 is “baduy” (outdated, provincial,lousy,etc..).

Mariel mentioned this in the October 18 episode of Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 2. Megan Young started the conversation about her looks and that she changed a lot since her Starstruck stint in GMA 7.

Mariel Rodriguez then blurted out to Megan, “Alam mo, parang better ka na naman now kaysa noong mga days na ’yon. Kasi baduy sa GMA, aminin na natin. Come on it’s true, di ba?” (Mariel Rodriguez started out in GMA 7’s Extra Challenge).

Then they noticed cameras are recording their conversation, Mariel said, “Shit, baka naririnig ako, ito na naman ako.”

They then changed the topic to a more general theme, that there are so many “plastic” people specially in reality shows like Starstruck.

Megan Young, a Starstruck alumna said, “Sobrang konti lang ng friends ko dun [GMA-7], e. Kasi parang I tried to keep my circle small kasi ang daming mang-aaway dun [GMA-7].”

    Lol, as tactless and mean as Mariel may be, I totally agree with her. GMA’s production are meant to be baduy to target the masa and the kids.

    You know, they kept dishing out fantasy dramas like Encantadia, Darna, Zaido… yeah, to target kids who like this (childish) fantasies, and to target the badings/manyaks by filling the cast with skin baring stars. For example, Angel Locsin once for Darna (admit it guys, you want to watch it because of Angel’s sexy costume! lol). An example for the gay market is Zaido (they costumed the three stars with skin-tight spandex to get the gay/female crowd! wow! haha!).

    I mean, GMA is all about these shows. That’s why they’re leading at the ratings. It’s actually ingenious, really. But like Mariel said, it’s baduy! Haha!

    And I can clearly say that ABSCBN artists are more talented (acting wise) than GMA’s. Puro pa-cute lang ang alam ng mga yun. And if you say otherwise, then you’re probably a GMA fanboy/girl. (Like watching Richard Guttierez act makes me always cringe… just stay on your fantaseryes and avoid drama! damn! lol)
