“Kapag ang bata ay nadapa, tinatanong natin, bakit? Kapag nauntog, bakit? Kung buong Pilipinas pa, buong masang Pilipino at mga mahihirap na sumasali at umaasa lang sa ganitong palaro at may nangyaring ganoon, hindi ba karapatan din niyang magtanong? Bakit? Bakit nagkaganoon? Hindi pa po pinapaliwanag nitong taong ito bakit nagka-gulo-gulo, (If a child falls down, we ask, why? If our head gets a nasty bump, we also ask why? What more if it’s the whole nation or the poor who join these contests and discover these things, don’t they have the right to ask? This person (Revillame) has yet to explain),” De Leon said in a monologue to “Eat Bulaga” televiewers.
“Bakit hindi niyo muna ipaliwanag bago niyo ipasa ang sisi at para malihis ang atensyon ng humihingi ng (sagot sa) tanong, bakit nagkaganoon? Inuna niyo pang tirahin yung ibang tao para malihis yung atensyon (Why don’t you explain first before passing the blame and avert the people’s attention [from the controversy]),” De Leon added.
“Para sa mga taga Senado, iwan nyo na yang Hello Garci at tingnan itong Hello Papie [For those in the Senate, leave Hello Garci and look into Hello Papie].” Papie is the nickname Revillame is known by on the show.
In line with this, Senator Manuel “Mar” Roxas II said on Thursday he is filing a resolution on Friday to investigate the alleged cheating in one of the games featured in the ABS-CBN network’s noontime show, “Wowowee,” hosted by comedian Willie Revillame.
After De Leon completed his message, Revillame responded in “Wowowee” that he has nothing to explain and that he does not need any Senate investigation because he said, the people are behind him.
On radio, Joey de Leon also responded in DZBB:
“Kung meron kaming sinasabi dito sa aming program (Eat Bulaga!) ito ay para sa mga nanonood sa amin. Alam namin ang hirap ng mga audience para makapasok at manood ng aming programa. Alam din namin ang hirap na pinagdadaanan para makasali sa contest. Kaya dito sa programa namin, sinisigurado namin na malinis, walang hokus pokus, at parehas ang laban ng bawat contestant na sumasali.
“Ngayon, kung may tinamaan kami sa aming mga sinasabi ‘bato-bato sa langit, ang tamaan ay huwag magagalit.’ Wala kaming binabanggit na pangalan o programa. Kaya lang, ang tanong ng tao sa You Tube, sa TV, sa diyaryo, sa radio, at mga taong nag-complain sa DTI: Bakit may dobleng numero sa isang gulong? Iyon ang sagutin mo [Willie]. Hindi tungkol sa akin ang isyu.”
Ayon kay Joey, magaling mag-drama si Willie. Ginagamit daw siya nito para mapagtakpan ang isyu tungkol sa “Wilyonaryo” segment ng Wowowee.
Sinabi pa ni Joey na “walang alam” at “mababaw” si Willie dahil hindi nito maipaliwanag ang totoong nangyari sa “Wilyonaryo”.
Nilinaw rin ni Joey na wala siyang binabanggit na pangalan ng host o TV show. Imbes na magsalita nang magsalita, bakit hindi na lang daw siya idemanda ni Willie.
Ibang medium ang radyo sa telebisyon kaya nasabi ni Joey ang ilan sa mga salita na foul sabihin sa telebisyon. Nagamit niya sa radio interview ang mga salitang “traidor”, “malansa”, “sinungaling”, “animal”, “bobo”, at “mayabang” na pawang patungkol kay Willie.

Like any televiewer, I ask: how come there are 2 numbers in one wheel? A lot has been said by Willy….He feels he has nothing to explain to the people…since the people are behind him….but lie Joey, until now I am waitng for Willy’s explanation as to why there are 2 numbers on the supposed jackpot wheel?
Eat Bulaga’s having many hosts…. and ratings game have nothing to do with the “boo-boo” incident you’ve just commited.

I get the point of Joey De Leon, Willie needs to explain the matter first to the public. BUT, I think Joey is pushing Willie a little bit too hard. Willie reacted to Joey’s comments maybe because he was too embarrassed about the thing that happened in the game show and maybe he thought commenting to the remarks of Joey will get him off the spot light. I guess that didn’t lessen the impact of the issue… What I’m really getting at is that Yes, Joey is right but the issues that Willie raised to the public about Joey’s ‘harsh’ comments to the person involved is also valid. Joey always talks loudly about any issues with the other game show. He doesn’t respect Willie as much as Willie respects them. I always see Willie respectfully greeting the other host on the other channel but I guess Eat Bulaga’s host is not into a respectful game show battle. Willie saying these things about Joey might be in a bad timing but I do see his point. Joey just needs to go down his ‘airy’ chair and just help Willie with the issue, not bring him down like he is an angel doing the God’s work to save the Filipino people against game show malpractices. He doesn’t need to over react to what Willie said because all are true. I honestly think that the noontime game shows especially the one with the million bucks grand prize do have some cheats on them. The hosts definitely know where the grand prize is located and they have the power to let a contestant win it or not. It’s just a matter of disguising it to the public. I really hope they just keep their mouth shut and play the game show battle between the 2 stations clean.
Hindi na issue kung kapuso ka o kapamilya. Hindi na rin issue kung sino ba mas pangit, si Joey o si Willy. Para pagtuunan ng pansin ang mga non-issues ay isang kababawan at pag-iwas sa tunay na usapin. Katanggap-tanggap ba ang paliwanag ng ABS CBN na technical error lang yun? Napakasimpleng bagay para maging teknikal. Ang paglalagay ng numero sa loob ng lalagyan na yun ay napakadali. Papaano nila maipapaliwanag ang pagkakaroon ng dalawang numero sa loob ng isang sisidlan. Kailangan ba talaga ng dalawang numero? Para saan? Para mamanipula mo ang lalabas na numero? Para bang magic trick? Nagtatanong lang naman po. Di mo kailangang maging matalino para masagot ito…
Let’s not make money out of the misery of other people! Some tv shows are capitalizing on the dramas of others in order to gain more viewers. They would even make it appear that they are pro-people (Fallacy of Ad Populum. Let us not allow ourselves to be blinded by apparent goodness! Be more discerning!
Napanood ko itong video na ito ng live sa wowowee before pa ito ma You Tube. “Anong nangyari agad ang naitanong ko sa sarili ko?” Tinawanan lang ni Willie kung ano yung nangyari, hindi man lang nag apologize and nag explain kung ano ang nangyari at hinayaan pa na dumating sa ganito. Tama ang lahat ng points ni Mr. Joey De Leon. Masyadong pinersonal ni Willie yung issue at nilihis yung attensyon. Samantalang hindi naman nagbabanggit si Joey ng names or ng programa. Sabihin natin na hindi lang niya tuwirang binabanggit yung programa pero hindi yun rason para maging personal ang attack ng comment na binigay ni Willie on TV. Sana inaral muna niya yung sinabi niya bago nagbigay ng pahayag on TV kasi hindi ko talaga maintindihan bakit kailangang mamersonal eh hindi naman sa tao ang issue kung hindi doon sa nangyari. Nalulungkot ako kasi mas nagugustuhan ko ang Wowowee over Eat Bulaga dahil sa mga contestants nila pero dahil sa nangyari I will stick with Eat Bulaga for the rest of my life. I was really disappointed sa nangyari. Sayang ka, Willie.
Ms. Vidanes made an explanation last night…still…why 2 numbers appeared in just one box wasn’t clear. The wheel machine looks so techie from the outside….but look what happened. I hope ABS does some self sanction on the staff and the host of the said program…if they want to gain back credibility. Willy’s answer to JOEY are all senseless and out of topic. Does ABS accept this kind of behavior?

am not a fan of any of the show…. pero sana out of delicadeza… di nalang sana nakisawsaw si Mr. de leon sa issue since magkalaban ang tv program nila…. i think between the two… it is mr. de leon who’s playing on the sentiment of the poor or pinaglalaruan nya ang emosyon ng mahihirap like what he did when there was a stampeed sa wowowee…. as i’ve said am not a fan of both tv show… am actually living here in englang…. just an objective comment.

Ok, if they were really cheating, Eh bat ngayon lang nagkaganito bat ngayon lang ngkaroon ng bistuhang ganito or kahit chismis man lang sana na daya lang yang mga gameshows ng ABS? Dahil napakagaling nilang magtago? napakagaling nilang mandaya? Oh C’mon people! They are in the world we call “showbizness” where there are no such things as private lives or secrets or whatever?!

And tungkol kay Joey, ako sa totoo lang, Kelan niyo narinig na may nagparinig or tumira kahit biro lang [si willie minsan pero compare sa mga birada ni joey, wala wala.. alam natin yan!]? Wala naman diba? Im sorry sa mga fans ni Joey pero hindi ba medyo sumobra na? Hindi ba yung sa stampede lang nun nakakahiya yung ginawa nya, ginawang kakatawanan? Siguro sumobra nalang talaga, pwede naman kasi sanang magpasaya ng tao[kung yun man talaga ang gusto nila] ng walang tirahan or biruan na alam naman nating lahat na walang nagagawang maganda diba? As far as this latest episode is concerned, I have to say that both instances has its merits and demerits.
Events:
1. A game show segment from a viewers point of view was rigged from the start as evidenced by the video footage.
2. A TV personality wrote his article on a National Broadsheet after a week of absence from the country ending his article with, “Teasing is not bad. Cheating is… on TV!” No names were mentioned in said article.
3. Game Show host reacts like a brat and “cried” on national television targeting TV Personality on a personal level and repeatedly named TV personality the program he works on and the network he appears in. This tirade went on in between “sobs” for 10 minutes or so. During his outburst, no explanation about the incident happened except him stressing several times that he is not a cheater.
4. TV Personality reacts without mentioning names and calls on the game show host to explain before he complains and stated “bato-bato sa langit tamaan wag magagalit.” Jokingly ended his monologue asking the Senate to forget “Hello Garci” and instead focus on “Hello Papi!”
5. Immediately, game show host reacted that he doesn’t need the senate since he has the support of the people.
6. The network of game show host explains that there was a technical glitch on that portion of the game show citing that since it was new, they still have to work out the quirks and apologizes to the viewing public. Still no explanation how the glitch came about and how come there are two numbers in one box or was it a wheel? This statement came out a week after the incident and after the news broke out on the newspapers, blogs, radio and word of mouth.
6. August 31, 2007, the senate reacts and will look into the controversy.
I am not taking sides on this issue but it’s clear based on what transpired who is the more intelligible personality of the two. One maybe viewed as a taunter and the other a “pikon.”
I agree however that an explanation with a substantiated apology is warranted to clear any misconception about the alleged rigging of the Game Show hosts’ portion in his TV program. His personal attack on the TV personality is baseless and diversionary since he was not mentioned by name in any of taunts made by the TV personality.
The contestant in that portion of the show was going home with an accumulated amount of P137 thousand since she chose the offer instead of going for the jackpot anyway. And in the spirit of fair play, they showed where the big money prize was. Then this is where the faux pas transpired. This is where an explanation is needed.
The bottom line, there was an incident which warrants an explanation. People reacted including the TV personality in his “pilyo” kind of way. The senate for lack of focus will delve into the issue. For what reason you may ask? I dare not say. What I can say is that it would be a waste of senate priorities and tax payers’ money. We the people need more from the Senate than resolving an issue which the DTI and the MTRCB can solve. Come to think of it, what has the senate done for us lately?

Mr. Revillame if you are really concerned about helping the poor, why don’t you just give the prize money since inamin niyo rin na nagkamali kayo. The same question everyone is asking why is there two numbers in one wheel? And then you simply say you don’t need to explain? Ginagawa mong tanga ang mga pilipino sa ginawa niyo. Don;t you ever wonder why your show has too many incidents and controversy? it’s because the truth will come out….
mga kaibigan, kaya nakialam si joey dahil pareho sila ng format ng game, kapag hindi pinaliwanag ni willie kung ano nangyari at natanim sa isip ng tao na pandaraya nga un, maaari na ring isipin ng tao na ginagawa ng eat bulaga kung anuman ung ginagawa ng wowowee.
Si Vic Sotto nagkamali sa laban o bawi. Lumabas agad ang number 1 para sa 1 million. May daya bang nangyari? At least nandoon yung number 1. Iba naman ang kaso dito. THINK!!!
just my 5 cents worth of observation…
if you’ve seen the actual footage of the tirade of willy against joey the following can be observed…
1. no actual tears nor even a semblance of anxiety nor sincerity can be traced in willy’s face.. parang acting lang tlga..same kinda acting that took place during the ultra massacre..
2. no explanation was given.. puro character assasination lang.. sinu naninira sa kanya etc etc..
3. cameras of wowoowee kept ok focusing on the audience looking all glum and sad.. coz maybe they to sensed that willy isnt convincing enuf..
in my opinion if ur really sincere in maintianing ur credibility as a person you should set things straight muna .. in short explain..
all praises to joey for not keeping his mouth shut.. god knows we need people to speak up in this country and question any wrong doing.. di ung papabayan mo nalang gaguhin tayo di ba? nag papa bobo na nga ung mga programa sa 7 at 2 ginagago pa tayo sa mga game shows… saan kaya tayo pupulutin nyan…

televiewer ako nang wowowiee, kasi wala naman choice, sa singapore kasi walang gma. pero sa tingin ko mukhang di kapani-paniwala si willy. nanonood ako nung mangyari iyon, at ako rin mismo nagtatanong kung bakit nagkaganoon. bakit d kaagad pinaliwanag ni willy kung anong nangyari, umabot pa sa punto na pag-usapan nang buong pilipinas. tapos saka siya magsasalita nang panira sa ibang tao na wala namang dapat sabihin kung sa una palang nagpaliwanag na siya. ayaw kong manira nang tao, pero parehas lang naman silang dalawa(sa tingin ko) pero ang di ginawa ni willy eh yung di pangalanan kung sino ang tinitira nya at ibalik pa ang dating kasalanan nito…..sa bandang huli di napabuti si willy mas pinalakas nya lang si joey…..yun lang….
as i see it pareho silang nagkamali… most of the comments sa article na ito eh nadiscussed ang mga faults at kahinaan ng bawat isa… everything boils down to the rivalry issue of the two stations… pero ganun talaga kelangan ng competenxa… but nevertheless, the truth will prevail… cheaters never win… ma-absuelto man ang mga nagkasala sa mata ng tao pero hindi sa mata ng Diyos… salamat po!

I’m not based in the Philippines and I don’t watch variety shows. When I saw in youtube about this and having watched the full videos, however, I have to comment…
I have watched Joey since I was a kid and have grown to respect and love this man, despite many intrigues he has been in the past. I believe in Joey’s sincerity when it comes to his comment about explaining to the public first before complaining or going to another issue (mas maraming kaso si Joey, wag magmalinis, etc).
