Friendster is undoubtedly the king (or queen) of social networking in the Philippines. And i am declaring it to be the absolute truth that Friendster is the no. 1 social networking site in the Philippines. Forget about myspace or facebook which are more popular abroad, Friendster which is actually a US-based company is no. 1 in the Philippines.

And naturally, since Friendster is no. 1 in the Philippines, it is also used by a lot of Pinoys in a variety of things. Some use it as a dating site, some for selling themselves (whatever) and some to get back at others. And the latest victim is Ysan Natasha as her profile says it is. Although, in that profile, Ysan Natasha is also identified to be Maria Rossan Mazo as her real name.

Ysan Natasha FriendsterTalk about defamation!

I wonder who put up the profile, probably an ex-boyfriend or a spiteful enemy? We can never exactly tell, but i think things like these are nasty to say the least. I wonder why Friendster is letting this happen..

Here’s Ysan Natasha’s Friendster profile page, if you’re curious:

Ysan Natasha in Friendster

Btw, if you look at Ysan Natasha’s friends, you will see someone named Mamajoe with Polo Ravales partying (again!) as his/her photo in the Friendster profile.

I viewed the profile. It looks like it was made up by a vengeful WIFE. In the “Who I Want To Meet” section, it said: “May isang anak…” A wife who found out her husband with this girl?

You know what? By posting this on your blog, pinalala mo lang ang situation for the poor girl. Sana man lang you censored her name and pic tiyaka hindi mo na sana nilagyan ng link. exactly what whoever made that friendster profile wants. Gusto niyang maraming makabasa ng profile na yan para guluhin ang poor girl na ito. Sabihin na nating totoo ang mga sinasabi sa profile na yan. So? Wala na tayong pakialam dun.

The intention is to expose Friendster so that it will not be this easy to just malign or libel a person. Also to expose this to warn the girl victimized and his relatives of the fact so that she can explain her side.

In posting this in the internet by Friendster, Inc. and whoever is that person who made the fake profile, it is considered public domain. So it becomes public interest, esp. if it involves defaming a person, it is a criminal offense. The profile is for the world to see, i merely made a story of the fact. I did not started it.

We’re here merely to report what happened. The effort should be made on who made the profile not on the person who merely reported what happened.

    Boy’s last blog post..Friendster scandal
