In what looked like a battle for how many stars will show up to support their camp. Lolit Solis also had her stable of stars Alfred Vargas, Paolo Contis and Yasmien Kurdi for support. Actor Mark Herras also wanted to come personally but was prevented by previous commitments.

Originally, Lolit Solis wanted actors Yul Servo, Eric Quizon and Rustom Padilla as witnesses for her. In her rejoinder-affidavit to the reply-affidavits of actors Sam Milby and Piolo Pascual in the libel case filed by the two against her, Lolit Solis said in her affidavit that “there is nothing libelous about my article.

“I merely narrated in my article that I saw the two men “nagbubulungan” and as they are “nagbubulungan,” it obviously follows that ‘halos magkadikit na nga ang mga pisngi nila. I saw them with my own eyes… I have no reason to fabricate a story. I carry no grudge against any of the complainants.”

Nowhere in the article daw that she said that Sam Milby and Piolo Pascual are gay or homosexuals or that both are engaged in “homosexual activities.”

Lolit Solis also questioned that the affidavit of the witnesses presented by Sam Milby and Piolo Pascual, namely by, Angel Locsin, Rica Peralejo, Cristy Fermin, Pokwang, several employees of Toni and Guy Salon and Timex, and two members of the general public who felt affected by the article, were filed belatedly when it could have been made when they filed their original libel complaint.

“The length of time that lapsed before presenting their testimonies casts serious doubts as to the reliability and authenticity of the claims of these witnesses. It was very convenient for the complainants because they had more than enough time to set their story straight and go shopping for witnesses. It was also readily apparent that these witnesses are either people under their employ/pay, or close associates and employees belonging to their home network [ABS-CBN].

“Their testimonies therefore carry very little weight for being biased and self-serving.”

Lolit Solis wants Yul Servo, Eric Quizon and Rustom Padilla as witnesses for her in the libel case filed against her by actors Sam Milby and Piolo Pascual. She did not elaborate why.

The libel case charged against Lolit Solis by Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby stemmed from an alleged incident at the Hotel Sofitel on October 12, 2007, and which Lolit Solis wrote in her column which alleged that the actors were engaged in a romantic tryst and suggesting that the Philippines top matinee idols have a gay relationship.

Lolit Solis then offered feelers to the lawyers of Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby to retract the said article but the retraction will be able to say that Lolit probably mistook two male prostitutes for Sam and Piolo. That made Sam and Piolo’s camp and lawyers more angry.

Witnesses in support of Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby, fellow Philippine showbiz celebrities Angel Locsin, Rica Peralejo and comedienne Pokwang submitted their sworn affidavits, testifying that neither actor was at the said hotel on the date specified by Solis.

And to which Lolit Solis retorted, “Tatlo lang na witness ang gusto ko. Sana, mag-witness sa akin sina Yul Servo, Eric Quizon at Rustom Padilla!”.

Lolit Solis’ stable of stars, Lolit being a talent manager also, are willing to also make witness affidavit statements in support of her. Lolit Solis is scheduled to submit a counter-affidavit on the Libel charge against her on February 6.

On November 16, 2007, Sam Milby and Piolo Pascual sued Lolit Solis for libel and after filing with their lawyer Jojie Alonzo in the Manila City Hall, they had a presscon at the Manila Bayview Plaza Hotel. Here are their official statements:

Piolo Pascual:

“After consulting with my family, my friends and legal counsel and
after much thought and prayer, I have decided to file a lawsuit for
libel against Ms. Lolit Solis.

It was not an easy decision for me to make. As an actor I know
nothing of lawsuits and the time consuming legal process involved.

“Furthermore, I do not relish the idea of filing suit against a
colleague in the industry. Especially someone who is my senior and
who was once worthy of my respect.

“Respect is what this is all about. When Ms. Solis wrote her article
published on Oct. 15, Ms. Solis disrespected and insulted me. What
she wrote was baseless and a complete fabrication of events.

“Not only were we not at Sofitel, either singly or together on that
date, but also we would never have behaved in the manner that she so
graphically and maliciously recounted.

“We are suing because our dignity and integrity have been assailed
and put to question. We are aggrieved by her article and her
subsequent efforts to explain herself at our expense.

“She has disrespected us as colleagues and as human beings and the
only way left to restore this respect is through the courts of law.

“We do not know why she concocted such a blatant lie. Nonetheless,
we have given her every opportunity to retract her story and set
things right. But our offer of a simple retraction and apology has
been met not with contrition and truth but with ridicule and
contempt.

“And so, with humility in our hearts and faith in God’s divine
justice, we now leave it for the courts to decide.”

Sam Milby:

“We were not in Sofitel last October 12 so the entire article is a
fabrication/ concocted story. Worst she didn’t simply say we were
nagbubulungan. The article, read in its entirety, shows that she
herself was scandalized with what she saw.

“She pictures us in a romantic interlude awaiting the sunset,
scampering like scared rabbits upon learning of her presence. Her
article has damaged us and put us in public ridicule.
