The tax evasion case against Judy Ann Santos will push through after the Supreme Court dismissed her petition for review. It can be remembered that Judy Ann Santos has been charged with tax evasion by the BIR after an investigation by the BIR showed that Judy Ann Santos incurred a P2.714-million tax deficiency in 2002. The tax evasion case chronology:

* Judy Ann Santos has been charged with tax evasion in the lower court;
* She then filed a motion to quash the information against her in the 1st Division of the Court of Tax Appeals;
* The Court of Tax Appeals 1st Division dismissed her motion to quash the information against her;
* Judy Ann Santos filed a petition for review with the Court of Tax Appeals en banc to appeal the resolution of the Court of Tax Appeals first division to the Court of Tax Appeals en banc;
* The Court of Tax Appeals en banc denied her petition and instead upheld the decision of the 1st Division of the Court of Tax Appeals;
* Judy Ann Santos then appealed to the Supreme Court

And today, the Supreme Court as mentioned above upheld the decision of the Court of Tax Appeals en banc, which means the tax evasion case against Judy Ann Santos will now be be able to push through and give her her day in court. Guilty or not guilty, she has to explain it in court now and not hide in technicalities.

In her petition with the Supreme Court, Judy Ann Santos even used as an alibi the case against Regine Velasquez which did not prosper because it was later dismissed by the Department of Justice. Judy Ann’s camp questioned why Regine Velasquez’ case was dismissed while her’s was not. The Supreme Court said it was not the case, her case was different because when Regine Velasquez was charged, it was still not clear how much taxes she owes the BIR, in Judy Ann’s case, it was already certain she owes 2.1 Million.

In short, magbayad po tayo ng tamang buwis. Kung ang mga ordinaryong empleyado nga nagbabayad ng tama, mga sikat pa kaya na mas may kakayahang magbayad ang hindi. Sayang naman ang system losses ng kaban ng bayan sa mga di marunong magbayad ng tamang buwis.

Bato bato sa langit ang tamaan wag magalit. Kung fan ka e di fan ka wala namang question dun. Wag lang po bulag na tagasunod. Period walang comma!

Could this be a sign that Judy Ann Santos star power has been diminished by her “System’s Loss TV Commercials?” Her supposed first major tv appearance and a formal announcement of her engagement to Ryan Agoncillo in Sharon Cuneta’s Sunday show, Sharon, only made it to no.7 in the ratings. The Ryan Agoncillo, Judy Ann Santos appearance in Sharon has been regularly plugged in almost all the tv shows of ABS-CBN from morning till night, in short, it was heavily promoted, but despite it, it only landed a dismal 7th.

Movies 2008, to be held on June 27, in the Henry Lee Irwin Theater, Ateneo De Manila University, Quezon City. The late Rudy Fernandez will be awarded a posthumous Ulirang Artista Lifetime
Achievement Award.

The 24th Star Awards for Movies will be shown via delayed telecast on ABS-CBN 2’s “Sunday’s Best” on Sunday, June 29 at 10 PM.

Alfie Lorenzo, manager of Judy Ann Santos is fearful that the Meralco ad may backfire on his talent, Judy Ann Santos. Alfie also thinks that the ad is a demolition job on Juday, so that the wrath of the Filipino people on Meralco will now unnecessarily pass on to Juday. “Hindi ko alam iyan. Hindi ako kinausap. Kasi paalis na sila Juday noon nung nag-text na lang yung secretary niyang si Jane. Sabi niya, may humabol pong komersyal. Pabaon daw sa Europe (I don’t know about that. I was not informed. Judy Anne’s secretary sent me a text message saying that she was asked to do one last commercial before she leaves for Europe),” Alfie Lorenzo speaking on dzBB with Mike Enriquez.

Alfie also said that Judy Ann’s acceptance of the deal would actually work against her, saying the commercial was really meant to bring down her image. “I think its part of the demolition job. I think bahagi iyan ng demolition job against Judy Ann Santos.”

Lorenzo explained that the creators of the commercial, which is being aired over television and radio, signed Judy Ann for the advisory because they believe that she could “soften the anger of the people.”

“Iyong galit ng mga tao sa Meralco, baka naman sa kaniya mapunta at magtagumpay na sila na mapabagsak si Judy Ann, so may pag-asa na silang mapasikat ang ibang artista nila,” he explained.

“Of course. Ibigay naman natin ang side niya (Let’s give her a chance to air her side).” Alfie also planned to go to Europe but has been getting a hard time following her to Europe because “people have been trying to block my VISA.”

But despite the Meralco by Judy Ann Santos infomercial explaining the process of system loss, Alfie admits he could not grasp the concept of Meralco’s side of charging good standing and paying customers system loss.

“Si Juday na nga ang nagpapaliwanag, eh hindi ko pa rin maintindihan.”
