Joey De Leon on Pokwang

August 24, 2008 · Filed Under Pokwang, joey de leon · 9 Comments
On GMA’s showbiz talk show Startalk where Joey De Leon is also a co-host, Joey De Leon refused to answer directly the Pokwang aswang brouhaha but took a swipe yet again on Pokwang. Joey De Leon said:

“Ayoko na sanang patulan ‘to pero papatulan ko na. Yung kay Pokwang, may isa lang akong sasabihin. Wala akong sinabing ganun Pokwang. Naiiyak na ako e. Bukas magbasa ka ng Philippine Star. Sinasabi nyo na tinutukso daw ang anak mo na aswang daw ang nanay niya, isa lang ang masasabi ko…ilipat mo ng bubong.”

And just before Startalk was about to end, Joey De Leon collaterally said:

There. Quote unquote..

Joey De Leon reacts to Willie Revillame

Joey De Leon reacted to what Willie Revillame had said yesterday. Naturally so since Joey De Leon, who is being referred now only as JDL in forums, is after all not someone to backdown from a fight. As he puts it, Joey De Leon grew up in Sampaloc and in a slum environment with Lolit Solis, and in his own words he said, “pag nakipag away ako parang bata.” These remarks were said in that feud with columnist Dindo Balares but was not exclusive to that when JDL uttered it and in the succeeding explanations. So with those, expect the feud to not end from here.

Here’s the Joey de Leon reaction in a segment of Eat Bulaga over what Willie Revillame had said on Wowowee yesterday.

Willie Revillame reacts on Pokwang Aswang issue

Willie Revillame reacts on the Pokwang Aswang issue live on national television via Wowowee. Watch the video below or read the transcript reports below:

An emotional moment suddenly changed the mood of the fun-filled show Wowowee yesterday (August 18) when Willie Revillame defended co-host Pokwang from rival host Joey de Leon’s insulting remarks about her.

Apparently, the latter had composed a novelty song against ABS-CBN shows which includes the following lines, “Makikita araw-araw ay mukha lang ni Pokwang. Makikita araw-araw ay mukha ng aswang.”

What really made Willie furious, however, is the fact that the offensive lyrics had caused Pokwang’s daughter to be a laughingstock in school.

Willie’s sudden burst of emotions brought not only his co-hosts Pokwang, Mariel and Valerie to tears, but also the show’s live audience.

“Ngayon may anak si Pokwang, isang babae, nag-iisa. Kawawa po yung bata, tinutukso sa iskwela, ‘Nanay mo aswang!’”

The Wowowee host also noted that this is unfair to both mother and daughter who have gone through a lot of difficulties in life.

“Alam niyo ba kung saan nag-umpisa si Pokwang? Nagpe-perform siya sa Japan. At dun, that time, nung nagpe-perform [siya] namatay po ang [isa pang] anak ni Pokwang, na hindi niya nakita habang ito’y binurol at inilibing,” he added.

Then Willie further claimed that Joey should refrain from involving other people from the long-standing rift between them. “Tirahin mo na ‘ko ‘wag lang ang babae.”

TV Patrol tried to get Joey’s reaction on this issue but Eat Bulaga’s producer Malou Fagar explained that the actor-TV host is still on vacation in Hong Kong.

On the other hand, Pokwang—though obviously distraught by the whole thing—managed to look at the brighter side of the situation, “Salamat po sa mga tumitira sa akin. Ibig sabihin lang po nun sikat na ako.”

Joey De Leon calls Pokwang Aswang

August 17, 2008 · Filed Under Eat Bulaga, Pokwang, Wowowee, joey de leon · 42 Comments
In the Grand Fiesta Eat Bulaga in Los Angeles Show, it was not only the flop issue that became very much controversial. Recently surfacing in Youtube is a video wherein Joey De Leon in a song referred to Pokwang as Aswang (witch, creature, etc..). Of course this remark did not go unnoticed to Pokwang and her co-stars in Wowowee. Willie Revillame in a televised remark said that everyone should respect Pokwang because she is after all only “tao din” (human too). Pokwang meanwhile said, “ Eh, siguro lab niya ako. Hayaan na lang natin ang lolo niyo, basta ako magta-trabaho na lang ako at magpapaligaya ng mga tao.”

In fairness to Joey De Leon, maybe the reference is meant to be a joke as both of them are comedians but could border on being below the belt, depending on the person who is going to overhear it. Watch the alleged video where Joey De leon referred to Pokwang as Aswang below:

Eat Bulaga in Dubai

Eat Bulaga held another show in Dubai last week after their successful Dubai show last year. The 6,000-seater Dubai Tennis Stadium was filled to the rafters as Pinoys gathered to watch hosts Tito, Vic and Joey, and co-hosts Pia Guanio, Pauleen Luna, Allan K, Julia Clarete, Francis Magalona, and the wacky duo, Jose and Wally provided several hours of fun and entertainment. Eat Bulaga in Dubai airs this Saturday, May 24, on GMA.

Talentadings, composed of stand-up comics/sing-along masters Joel, Al & Kim of Allan’s Zirkoh and Klownz comedy bars, served as front act to the Eat Bulaga show that gave delight to the audience. See video below of Talentadings in Eat Bulaga Dubai.

Pia, Pauleen and Julia with the EB Babes opened up “Eat Bulaga in Dubai” with a take on the popular OPM song, “Taralets,” followed by Allan, Jose and Wally’s version of Sean Kingston’s signature hit, “Beautiful Girls.”

Master Rapper Francis M. did a solo rap number amidst a shrieking jampacked stadium that went even wilder as soon as main stars Tito, Vic & Joey appeared on stage to sing and dance to the infectious “Kagat Labi” tune. By then, everyone was on their toes, swaying and dancing to Joey’s upbeat original composition.

But the “Eat Bulaga” gang fittingly capped the three-hour extravaganza with a rendition of The Dawn” “Salamat” and TVJ alternately commending our overseas workers” tireless efforts at seeking better lives for their families in the Philippines.
