Kris Aquino returns to The Buzz in place of Cristy Fermin this Sunday. Meanwhile, Cristy Fermin left for a prior commitment in Canada with Vhong Navarro, Vina Morales and Chocoleit. Cristy Fermin revealed her feelings on the Annabelle Rama interview in The Buzz on her column in Balita on April 17. She also wrote to the The Buzz supervising producer Roxy Liquigan that she will not be able to appear on The Buzz last Sunday because of what happened in the Annabelle Rama interview.

Kris Aquino used to host The Buzz but she left “temporarily” in favor of her pregnancy and eventual care of Baby James. She was replaced by Cristy Fermin. Ruffa Gutierrez, Annabelle Rama’s daughter and also the subject of Cristy Fermin’s libel conviction, was also made a co-host eventually.

Marami ang nagulat sa biglaang pagkawala ni Cristy Fermin sa The Buzz nu’ng nakaraang Linggo.

Ang ikinaloka pa ng co-host niyang si Boy Abunda, siya raw ang sinisisisi sa pagre-resign ni Cristy.

Iba raw ang pinagsamahan nila ng columnist-TV host, ganundin ng network, kaya malabo kung papipiliin siya kung sino ang papanigan.

Lalabas at malalaman din daw ang tunay na dahilan ng pag-alis ni Ms. Fermin sa naturang showbiz talk program.

Hindi kaya may kaugnayan ito sa pagge-guest ni Annabelle Rama at pagsasalita tungkol sa ipinanalong kaso ng libelo, na diumano’y ’di nagustuhan ni Cristy?

In 1995, an article about Annabelle Rama’s alleged cases in US court was published in Gossip magazine owned by Cristy Fermin.

The lower court convicted Cristy Fermin for libel.

Now the news said that the Supreme Court affirmed the libel conviction on showbiz columnist and ordered her to pay P806,000 to couple Anabelle Rama and Eddie Gutierrez instead of serving the jail term slapped on her by a lower court.

Fermin had originally been sentenced to a jail term of from three months and 11 days of arresto mayor as minimum, to one year, eight months and 21 days of prision correccional as maximum.

The Supreme Court however ordered the columnist to pay the hefty fine instead of serving the sentence.

Fermin argued that being the publisher of the tabloid Gossip, she had no direct participation in the June 14, 1995 article about Rama and her alleged case before a US court.

Fermin added that the article, in its entirety is not defamatory.

But the high court pointed out that Fermin’s admission she is also the chairperson and president of the tabloid proved she had full control over the publication of articles.

As of presstime, we got word from ABS-CBN Corporate Communications head Bong Osorio na hindi nag-resign si Cristy sa The Buzz. ‘No, Cristy Fermin has not resigned from The Buzz, but she will not be in the show on April 20 and 27 because of a commitment in Canada. ‘If plans push through, she is scheduled to leave on April 17.

John Lapus has been asked if it’s true he had a fight with Boy Abunda over an ex- boyfriend. He admitted that his former boyfriend named Jasper wanted to be in showbiz and applied with Boy with the warning that Boy should not tell John about it.

He gave Jasper a cellphone with a tracking device and each time John would check on him, Jasper would be in Boy’s house. John admitted he felt so bad about it but he never quarreled with Boy because of that.

“Totoo naman yun. Pinagkamalan niya, nag-apologize siya sa akin. May
mga bagay na nasabi siya na masasama tungkol sa akin. Pero napag-
usapan na `yon. Ang ipinagtataka lang ng marami ay kung bakit
inungkat `yon.

“Tanong ko `yan sa, halimbawa, sa executive producer ng show
nila. `Ah, are you that hopeless, you know, para lang magkaisyu at
magkakuwento? ‘ Yung ganun.

“Si Sweet, okay ako. Tinanggap ko ang apology niya. Wala kaming
problema and we are friends. We saw each other in the special of
Juday [Judy Ann Santos].

“Nagpapasalamat lang ako na hindi pa dumating sa karera ko, at sa
tinagal-tagal ko sa telebisyon, na sinabihan ako ni Kris [Aquino] o
sinabihan ko si Kris na, `Uy, eto ang gagawin natin.’ O, gawin mo Boy
para may mapag-usapan. O interbyuhin mo ako at ilalabas ko `to,”
pahayag ni Boy.

Naging stalker ba talaga niya ang ex-boyfriend ni John?

“Ayoko nang idetalye kasi marami pa ang masasaktan,” sagot ni
Boy. “Importante yung nagkaintindihan, nagkaunawaan, nagkapatawaran,
humingi ng dispensa, tinanggap. Okay na ‘yon. Kung binubuhay nila
para magkaroon sila ng istorya, it’s a production concern, `no.

“So, `yon nga ang tanong ko sa… si Mildred [Natividad] ba ang EP
[ng Showbiz Central]? Is this part of her job? Is this command
responsibility? Is this Mildred’s idea to come up with the story para
magkaroon ng story sa show nila?

“Kawawa naman si Sweet, ginagamit. As a matter of fact, hindi naman
yata tama na sabihan mo ang host, ang mga artista mo na magpakitang-
gilas kayo para magkaroon tayo ng kuwento.

“Pero hindi ko rin tinatawaran na maaaring may consent ni John ang
pagsasalita niya. Ay, hindi ko tinatawaran `yon. Artista `yon, e.
Host `yon, e. Kabahagi `yan ng trabaho.
