The 2009 Bb. Pilipinas Winners all came from exclusive educational institutions in the Philippines. And second chances are not always true. For Marie-Ann Umali, who studied in DLSU-College of St. Benilde and the eventual Bb. Pilipinas-World winner, it was bittersweet, she reached the Finals in the 2006 edition of the Bb. Pilipinas until she fell flat in the Question and Answer portion. But for 2007 Binibining Pilipinas 2nd runner-up Abby Cruz, the second time was a failure. She did not even make it to the Top 10 Semifinalist, notwithstanding that her boyfriend, Paolo Bediones is the event’s host. Pamela Bianca Manalo, the eventual Bb. Pilipinas-Universe winner, is an Advertising graduate of Assumption College. Melody Gersbach, Bb. Pilipinas-International winner, is a graduate of the University of Asia and the Pacific with a degree in Management. 1st Runner Up and Actress Richell Angalot is a BS Tourism graduate of the University Of The Philippines-Diliman. 2nd Runner Up Regina Hahn is a Computer Science graduate of the Ateneo de Manila University.

In order to succeed and attain the aspiration of the Philippines to reach to a high esteem competition worldwide as competition is rigid. the organizers/founders of the Binibining Pilipinas need to developed more the talents and skills of their candidates when they will compete to represent the Philippines. The greatest comptetitors of Philippine representative to the major titles in Asia is India. They are likewise well skilled particularly in the question and answer portion. I think what is indeed needed more is to re-evaluate how you are going to improved as what Venezuela, India, Brazil are doing. They have a special school for this kind of international competition by thru training, even after the coronation of their representatives.

Sad to say that last year’s 2008…Binibining Pilipinas the reason why nobody make it in the major titles from Philippines is that – the selections of the candidates were not impressive, up to the point that – it was indeed embarassing to what had transpired on the question & answer portion to the other finalist…which I myself when I watched it was very shocking. Unbelievable! Is it because that we have to be careful also of the judges that we invite to be a part of the judging.
