Airphil Express renamed PAL Expressby Boy Lopez
Budget airline Airphil Express is now known as PAL Express, the low-cost carrier of Philippine Airlines. Airphil Express will be renamed and re-branded as PAL Express tomorrow, March 15. All Airphil Express planes will now be using PAL livery and logo on its tail and fuselage. Airphil Express was also called PAL Express in 2008 through 2009.
PAL president Ramon S. Ang said PAL Express will not be just a name change, but an alignment of two standards into one. PAL and PAL Express will be full service carriers in terms of service, but LCC in terms of managing costs. And unlike other budget airlines such as Cebu Pacific, Zest Air, Seair and Air Asia Philippines, among others, PAL Express will offer on-board complimentary snacks, drinks, reading materials and other amenities to its passengers whilst also earning miles points through PAL’s Mabuhay Miles.
However, the two airlines will remain distinct and independent airline companies. All PAL flights will be manned by PAL pilots and cabin crew, while PAL Express flights by Airphil Express pilots and FA’s. Both airlines will also continue to have separate websites and hotline numbers.
