2008 MMFF Top-Grosser

The fight for the 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival Top-Grosser is neck and neck with reportedly the AiAi Delas Alas starrer, Ang Tanging Ina Niyong Lahat, slightly ahead of Tito, Vic and Joey’s Iskul Bukol 20 Years After as of press time. Members of the MMFF Executive Committee based on actual returns from movie theaters ranked the MMFF Topgrosser so far as follows:

1. Ang Tanging Ina Niyong Lahat
2. Iskul Bukol 20 Years After
3. Shake, Rattle, and Roll 2
4. Desperadas 2
5. Baler
6. One Night Only
7. Dayo
8. Magkaibigan

The fight for the MMFF Top-grosser is more meaningful this year because the MMFF Executive Committee, organizer of the 34th Metro Manila Film Festival ruled rather bizarrely that whichever tops the box-office race gets the plum award of Best Picture of the MMFF.

The awarding ceremony of the 34th Metro Manila Film Festival will take place this Saturday, December 27, at Hotel Sofitel.

    wooo galing talaga ng abscbn-star cinema! magaling na gumawa ng movies nagtotopnotch pa! i just watched and tanging ina nyong lahat, grabe ndi pwedeng ndi ka tatawa! and ang haba haba ng pila for tickets! and then i decided to see if there are more pila than ang tanging ina 2, i saw iskul bukol, the greatest rival ng ang tanging ina, my god! nilangaw! wahaha.. sm bacoor cinema po ah.. hehe.. kakaawa naman! goodluck nalang po sa mga sasama loob, ndi talaga kaya patumbahin ang mga magagaling!

    i’ve seen the movie “ang tanging ina n’yong lahat” and its great!

    i love the ai-ai and eugene tandem. their both good..

    congratz star cinema, abs-cbn, all the cast, staffs and the director of the movie..

    First of all congrats sa star cinema grabe ang ganda talaga ng tanging Ina grabe super nakakatawa talaga as in. Alam niyo ba nung pumunta kami ng mall of asia para manuos nagulat kami kasi super haba talaga ng pila ilang oras kaming nakapila para manuod lang lang ng tanging ina. Pero okay lang kasi sulit naman grabe ang galing talaga lahat ng tao masaya mula simula hanggang matapos pero may part dun na talaga namang nakakaiyak yung nalaman ni Ina yung problema ng mga anak niya grabe yung niyakap niya yung mga anak niya grabe at saka yung nagbitiw siyang presidente it almost maked me cry.Alm niyo ba kung bakit kasi naaalala ko nanay ko. narealize ko ganu kaimportante ang isang ina sa pamilya at kung anu ang kayang isakripisyo ng isang ina para sa ikakabuti ng kanyang mga anak diba. Comedy film siya nakakatawa pero maynilalaman talaga so for me its a food film and I think Tanging Ina was deserve to watch by many people. So congrats oh by the way congrats sa nagiisang dyosa for winning the Best Actress Award galing mu talaga.

    Considering the multiple awards that Baler received, it still did not make it well in the box office. What a shame. I can’t wait to see the movie her in the US. Watching these actors wearing costumes that our grandparents and great grandparents used to wear gives me the feeling of nostalgia and homesickness for my beloved Philippines. I wish that the parents out there in the Philippines convince their kids to watch this movie, just to give them an idea of what it was in the olden days. I am not old, but I still cherish all those memories that I heard and saw from my grandparents when I was growing up. I consider myself lucky to have seen and remembered all these. Children here in the US have no idea of their heritage. Parents abroad should take their children to see this movie or any similar movie.

    Tanging Ina Nyong Lahat hits at .5 billion pesos as of this january… while Iskul Bukol only reached 100m+ look at the big difference
